ICO 150th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

On June 17th, ICO held one of our biggest parties in a very long time. After nearly 3 years without seeing our alumni, we welcomed hundreds back to campus! In celebration of ICO, the great city of Chicago, and our Bronzeville neighborhood, we went hyperlocal. We were happy to be able to source much of the food and the drinks directly from local businesses in the area. Alumni, faculty, staff, and students all mingled together, and a special Leadership Circle reception was held where we announced ICO’s newest campaign: “Committed to Your Vision.”
We couldn’t have asked for a better day to celebrate 150 years, and the sun shone late into the evening.

A trolley transported many participants from Optometry’s Meeting to our courtyard where BBQ and tamales and
special 150th anniversary drinks were served. There were tours of ICO and the IEI, and more than a few alumni peeking in to see how the clinic had changed since their time at ICO.
​
There is so much that ICO has to be proud of in its 150-year history. We look forward to remaining at the forefront of optometric education and continuing to graduate some of the best doctors in the country.
