After nearly a three-year hiatus, ICO students joined their VOSH counterparts to provide much needed eye healthcare for communities in St. Lucia. Alongside ODs, OMDs, and opticians, 17 third and fourth-year ICO students provided eye exams, prescribed glasses and made referrals. In one day alone, this group saw over 302 patients, and referred several patients to on-site ophthalmologists for SLT and PRP procedures. The diseases ranged from neovascular glaucoma to cataracts with diabetic retinopathy being the most common disease they diagnosed. It’s always amazing to see the impact a dedicated group of motivated individuals can have. Great job, ICO!
