For the second year in a row, we held ICO’s White Coat Ceremony for our second-year students. The second professional year brings students closer to independent patient care in the clinic. In recognition of the seriousness of these clinical undertakings, it was agreed that the White Coat Ceremony would continue as a second-year ceremony.
From what we heard, waiting a year helped the Class of 2025 grasp the significance of this ceremony. “We were hoping to do it last year, but I feel like it was more meaningful after doing a year of school,” said Maleeka Bokhari ’25. Bayan Allaz ’25 added, “I had clinic this morning right before the White Coat Ceremony. . . While we were reading the oath, I was like, 'That’s it. It’s happening. We made it.'”
Second years, we look forward to seeing how your next few years in the clinic will shape you into doctors of optometry!
