Connie M. Scavuzzo, MA, Senior Director of Alumni Development, has announced her retirement as of June 30th.

I’ve been blessed to have had a 36-year career in higher education, including 17 years at ICO. 

As we approach these summer months, having just hooded the Class of 2021 to begin their journey as Doctors of Optometry, we have an opportunity to reflect on the many things that shaped this year. 

April 22nd was a historic day for optometry as the first group of ODs in Illinois received their vaccine certification. "There was applause as each OD successfully completed their training. It was one of those moments I will remember my whole life," says Sandra Bury, OD '95.

Over 85 scholarships and awards totaling more than $100,000 were presented during the Class of 2021's Capstone Program held on Friday, May 15th.

During the ICO Board of Trustees' May meeting, they elected three new members to the Board. All three are distinguished ICO alumni. We look forward to their service and welcome their input and insights.

The 24th Annual Practice Opportunities Symposium was held virtually on April 8th and 9th. 

This May, Drs. Lester Efianayi ’21 and Jeff Villena ’21 returned to campus to unveil a mural that they envisioned and produced along with designer Christopher Donley.
