Class of 2024 saw more students graduate with research honors than ever before. So, in this research highlight, we’ll take a quick glimpse at the research projects these students pursued while at ICO.

On May 18, 2024, ICO held its one hundred and eighty-first commencement at Chicago Symphony Center. The space was alive with anticipation as another cohort of optometry graduates gathered for their commencement ceremony.

It is an objective fact, widely recognized within the field, that a degree from Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) has status and value. The oldest school of optometry in the nation with the largest alumni network (eight thousand living graduates and growing), ICO has earned its well-deserved reputation as one of the top OD programs in the country. 

Recently named ICO’s Chair of the Board of Trustees, Scott Jens, OD ’91, takes a look back as he moves forward in his new role. Dr. Jens retired from clinical practice in 2015, leaning into his entrepreneurial skills and interests after twenty-five years of owning a successful multi-location eye clinic group in Madison, Wisconsin.
